Scatto is an iOS client for Pixelfed, the federated photo-sharing network. It is made by one person, in the open, as a personal project.

The quickest route is from inside the app: Settings › Send feedback writes to the same address and fills in the version, build, device and server for you. Those four lines answer most of what I would otherwise have to ask.
Reporting a problem
What helps most, roughly in order:
- What you did, and what happened instead.
- Which server your account is on. Pixelfed instances differ from one another more than you might expect, and a good many problems turn out to belong to a particular version or configuration.
- A screenshot, if there was anything on screen.
- The version and build number, from Settings › Licences or the feedback mail.
Something went wrong while posting? Scatto keeps the post rather than discarding it. Open the composer again from the + button — a post that failed to send is waiting there, with what the server said about it.
Questions that come up
Do I need an account on a particular server?
No. Scatto works with any Pixelfed instance. You sign in to the server you already have an account on; if you have none, the sign-in screen suggests one that is open to new members.
Is this the official Pixelfed app?
No. Pixelfed has its own app. Scatto is an independent client and is not affiliated with the Pixelfed project.
Why is a feature missing, or behaving oddly?
Often because the server does not offer it. A Pixelfed instance can be several versions behind, or have parts of its API disabled, and an app cannot invent what is not there. If something looks wrong, telling me which server you are on is genuinely the most useful thing you can send.
What happens to my photos?
They go to your server and nowhere else. Scatto has no backend of its own for your content. The one thing that does pass through infrastructure I run is push notifications — explained in full in the app privacy notice.
How do I turn notifications off?
Settings › Notifications, where each kind can be switched off separately, along with the number on the app icon. If that number ever looks wrong, Reset notification badge on the same screen recounts it against your server.
Can I help translate it?
Yes, gladly. Scatto is in English, German, Spanish, Basque, French, Italian and Polish. Corrections to any of them are welcome — several were inherited and have never been read by a native speaker.
Privacy and legal
The app privacy notice covers what the app stores, what it sends, and what the push relay sees. Your server has its own privacy policy and terms, which govern the account and the photos on it.
